About

The vault that never phones home

PassCipher is a local-first password and key vault. It generates highly secure passwords, passphrases, usernames, SSH keys, PGP keypairs, AES keys, API tokens and email aliases, and stores them in a single file encrypted on your own machine. There is no PassCipher account, no cloud, and no telemetry - your secrets never leave your computer.

Why we built it

Most password managers ask you to trust a company with the keys to your digital life, synced to servers you do not control. PassCipher takes the opposite position: your data stays on your device, sealed with AES-256-GCM, optionally locked behind an Argon2id master password and a TOTP second factor. We would rather be honest about what the app does and does not protect than oversell it - the limits are spelled out in the app and on the home page.

What it does

Who makes it

PassCipher is built by Wrenchy Productions, an independent Australian software studio founded by Kade Troy Terpstra (known online as Circuit). The studio focuses on practical, fairly-priced software people actually use.
